Due to boat angles, most often requires custom work whether for carpet, doors, furniture, linens, mattresses, rugs or windows. It all adds up quickly! We opted not to cover our beautiful wood floors but differently wanted something under our feet coming in and out. After I found a color scheme and design that we could both tolerate I began cutting and sewing.

I started with the first rug by our main door. Something that could be tossed in the washer/dryer. After weeks of traffic and proven to uphold the washer and dryer is when I purchased matching rugs. Placing them where desired, I began to cut them to our vessel angles. Laying them to best minimize too much cutting and sewing. By no means am I a seamstress but, my middle school days of Home Economics taught me the basics. Since, I don’t own a sewing machine. I used a thicker eye hole needle to pass through the washable rug and embroidery thread which best matched the existing edging color and thickness. Once hand sewn the fibers stopped.

Washable rugs purchased from BJ’s Warehouse.
