Georgetown, MD to Deltaville, VA

Land obligations​ along with a unexpected illness and delayed recovery kept us tied to the docks far longer than either of us had hoped for. Nonetheless, necessary as we continue to cut loose ends before our grand adventures commence roughly around mid Autumn season​ (9/22/25 – 12/21/25). So, we’re happy to ​finally stretch our legs!​ Fortunately, Marina Trawler Owners Association (MTOA) is hosting their annual National Rendezvous in Crisfield, MD which was a great detour stop as we cruise to Deltaville, VA for some professional work to be done onboard.

Wednesday, September 10, 2025 (Day 1)

Special Comments:

  • Exiting the Sassafras River, MD we encountered .4 current against us.
  • Key Bridge is under demolition. Coast Guard advising mariners are restricted to the middle channel and pass thru at 6 knots.
  • It’s been many years since we visited the Magothy River, MD.
  • We noticed lots of birdlife at anchorage.
  • Magothy River runs 12.1 miles through Anne Arundel County, MD.
  • Magothy River, MD is located south of the Patapsco River and north of the Severn River.
  • Strange sound of plane traffic above us, something we don’t normally hear.
  • Even floating birds shared our sentiment on this dreary as they didn’t move with our passing (normally they fly away).
  • In 2004, Dobbins Island, sold for $850,000. In 2019, the owners built a custom home on the 7.2 private acres. In March 2025, listed the property for sale, $2.7 million. As of July 2025, remains listed for $1.98 million.

Special Comments:

  • Awoken at 6:39AM by aggressive wakes.
  • Today, marks the 24th Anniversary of 9/11. A day across our nation that everyone recalls the exact moment when news broke about the terrorist plane crashes in our country. For the 2977 killed, we will never forget!
  • We have passed on Bay Bridge many times but, under it is always our favorite. There’s a traffic whistle as you approach, close your eyes for a second and you would think you’re in New York City.
  • All the years we’ve been together, I’ve never known or noticed Jacques to play air guitar. I smiled as that changed today, as he jammed out to the song, Starting Over by Chris Stapleton. Living proof there’s always a first for everything!
  • As we were approaching our anchorage spot, we heard and saw two sonic jets above us, closely side by side.
  • At anchorage port side is clear blue skies and starboard is gray.
