Preventing Fuel Spill Tips

You’re responsible for any fuel or oil spillage from your vessel. 

Tips for Fuel Prevention Spills:

• Fill to 95% Capacity. This allows for expansion.
• Fill the Right Hole. Reports have shown rod holders and water tanks have been filled.
• Regularly Inspect Vessels Fuel System. Check for leaks and bilge. 
• Use Absorbent Pads & Sheets. Helps in preventing splashes into the water.  
• Use a Clean Way Fuel Kit. Prevents overfilling and spillage.

In the event, of fuel or oil spills you should:

• Identify, contain and hopefully stop the leak.
• Notify the marina.
• Report it to the Coast Guard Response Center, 800-424-8802. Likely to require amount, cause, location. source and weather conditions.
• Consult with your Insurance Carrier.
