Next Stop: St Augustine, FL Mooring Ball (Tuesday, 1/6/26)

Friday, January 2, 2026 (Day 58)
Docked: Fernandina Harbor Marina (Fernandina Beach, FL)
Special Comments:
- Today, we’re renting a Enterprise (Fernandina Beach, FL) car and heading to Jacksonville, FL.
- Gosh, was it strange to be in the front seat of a car. Given the local traffic, sensory overload. (LOL!) We noticed some car yoga was required getting in and out of this mid size vehicle. Either cars have shrunk or we become biggie size humans. (LOL)
- Our first shopping stop West Marine (Fernandina Beach, FL), Harbor Freight, followed by World Market (Jacksonville, FL) for all our fixes. Struck out with our preferred item at Sprouts (Jacksonville, FL).
- Fascinated sighting of American White Ibises in the World Market (Jacksonville, FL) parking lot feeding.
- Absolutely delicious Puerto Rican cuisine dinner at El Flamboyan Kitchen (Jacksonville, FL).
- Some provisioning at Walmart Superstore (Yulee, FL). Never seems as though we can find everything at any one particular store.
- We were surprised by our late night arrival by a crowd lingering around the closed gate. Fortunately, for us they didn’t attempt to grab the opening gate.

Special Comments:
- Took a scenic route throughout Amelia Island, FL.

- Light shopping at Dollar Tree (Yulee, FL), Home Goods (Yulee, FL) and Walmart (Fernandina Beach, FL).

Next Stop: St Augustine, FL Mooring Ball (Tuesday, 1/6/26)

St Mary, GA
Monday, January 5, 2026 (Day 61)
Docked: Fernandina Harbor Marina (Fernandina Beach, FL)
Special Comments:
- Oddly, awoke to a dream about me dying in a hospital bed. Awoken by Jacques trip to the head (aka: bathroom) I was calm saying my final farewell. Apparently, such a dream does not mean death is around the corner but, rather a significant change, life chapter end, and/or transformation. Well, that much is apparent!
- Also awoke with a nasty sore throat.
- Requested a mobile pump out this afternoon in preparation of tomorrow’s departure. What a great dockside service (along with moorings), more marinas should offer this and there would likely be less switches flipped!
- Jacques returned our Enterprise (Fernandina Beach, FL) rental car.
- Laundry day including to flipping from flannel sheets to our summer bedding. YIPPIE, truly a sign that we’re comfortable in warmer temperatures (well compared to back at home temps up north)!
- Bird poo must be bad on the upper deck when Jacques whips out the power washer.
- While power washing Jacques was asked by a female if this was a Nordhavn; he responded accordingly and shortly thereafter she was gone. Returning with her husband and another older gentlemen, presumably one of their fathers. Interesting interesting part was she called seeing our vessel over the summer at their home port, Mystic Seaport, CT. Small world! Anyways, Jacques was surprised by their knowledge. Apparently, their interested in a N43 or N47. I did not engage considering my sore throat.

Tuesday, January 6, 2026 (Day 62)
Departure: Fernandina Harbor Marina (Fernandina Beach, FL) 8AM
Miles: 44
Special Comments:
- We were pleased to leave Fernandina Harbor Marina (Fernandina Beach, FL) the rotten egg smell was horrendous this morning!
- For the best prices in the area, we stopped at Port Consolidated (Fernandina Beach, FL) for 400 gallons of fuel ($2.90/gallon plus tax $3.10/gallon for $1,262.54.) before commencing our cruise.
- Yesterday morning, 1/5/26 I awoke to a nasty sore throat. This morning, 1/6/26 awaken by thruster sounds at 3:30AM, I decided rather then toss and turn, to allow the Captain to peacefully sleep while I enjoyed my morning coffee and caught up on news events. Well. no sooner did I decide to sneak back into bed, that the alarm clock was chiming, good morning.
- Once, underway still feeling under the weather, I laid down on the sofa and slept through most of today’s cruise. According to Jacques I missed some beautiful mansions lining the ICW shoreline. Jacques seemed disappointed to only have one dolphin sighting. Also, hence the lack of the Captains Log.
- Just 20 miles east of us, there was a female airplane pilot hailing a shrimp vessel with sighting of a Atlantic Whale and calf and to further say, it’s the federal law to stay at least 500 yards away. She gave several hails, he never did acknowledge or respond.
- Had the pleasure of seeing two dolphin fins while at anchorage tonight. No jumpers!

- Still feeling under the weather. The cough is brutal! Caught Jacques looking at Urgent Care in St Augustine, FL but, I know it’s got to run it’s course. If I’m not better by day 5, I’ll consider it then.

Mooring Ball: St Augustine Municipal Marina – Mooring Ball (#28)
Special Comments:
- Yelp, there’s been a gap in blogging due to the me catching the flu. I stopped getting the vaccine many years ago after becoming really ill thereafter in the early 1990’s. According to news and locals it’s been bad throughout the state and with the northern region being hit the worst which I can attest too. Jacques one the other hand being vaccinated did get sick as well but, only with cold symptoms. As for myself on three different occasions I didn’t know whether to suggest calling a coroner, PCP, or pastor.
- Thanks to Anchor Eats Jacques was able to coordinate some flu essentials for pick-up and delivery. Great water service when you’re in a pinch.
- Today is the first time that I felt remotely well enough to even open or touch a electronic.
- Truly disappointed to miss the annual St Augustine Nights of Lights.
- There was a brief conversation, about potentially staying for another week or motor on. Fortunately, we have visited St Augustine before (via car) and opted to motor on, so reach destinations for some work to be done.
- Past few days has kept us swingin’ which is pleasant when you’re already nauseas and vomiting.

Thursday, January 15, 2025 (Day 71)
Docked: Halifax Harbor Marina (Daytona Beach, FL) (Slip J38)
Special Comments:
- This morning my belly was able to tolerate a second cup of coffee. That’s progress and healing!
- This afternoon we picked up our rental car from Enterprise Rent-A-Car (Daytona Beach, FL).
- We visited Jacques ole stomping grounds that sparked many fond memories. Twenty-one years together, there’s rarely a quiet moment between us and yet, still find a new untold story.
- Stopped by Best Buy (Daytona Beach, FL) to checkout Lectric eBikes for the boat. Shockingly for safety reasons we could not sit on the bike before purchase and unless purchasing the $179/pp Best Buy subscription there’s no return. Bikes are bolted in a rack amongst other bikes (brands), it was very difficult to engage the size or comfort. So, the least expensive Lectric eBikes on display (Xpress $1,299/pp) which is not the model of interest (Trike $1,499/pp). So, dropping $3,356 for something that I can’t sit on before purchase or return is absolutely outrageous to me! According to the store representative beyond mounting safety concern is the possibility of a bike escaping through the front door. UGH, then hold my driver’s license and/or credit card on ransom. HMM, isn’t that why there’s a representative at the front door? Amongst us, we have opposing views on this topic. Only time will tell who wins this battle! Continuing to browse the store, we couldn’t help but to notice that Best Buy (Daytona Beach, FL) has partnered with IKEA and Greenworks. Sometimes, change isn’t always a good thing because if I’m thinking of purchasing either as mentioned, Best Buy won’t be my first stop. According to Jacques there’s two local retailers that carry Lectric eBikes that open on Monday, 1/19/26 in hopes of having a closer look.
- Familiar dinner at PF Chang’s (Daytona Beach, FL). Our appetite is slowing coming back and we opted not to push the envelope to much.
- We stopped at Bass Pro Shops (Daytona Beach, FL) and walked out with Garmin for the tender along with other gem finds we didn’t know we needed (LOL).
- Had the opportunity to see ONE DAYTONA, Daytona International Speedway, and “World’s Most Famous Beach“.

Special Comments:
- This morning we set off for the The French Bakery & Pastry Shop (Ormond Beach, FL). YUM!!! We stocked up as though it were our last supper (baguette breads, butter cookies, cream puff pastry, croissants (plain), meringue, and raspberry croissants). True gem!!! We really enjoyed chatting with owner, Jean Jenner. Meeting his wife, Françoise and their son.
- Somehow me mentioning the nearby open air Farmers Market on Saturday was heard as Flea Market (Daytona Beach, FL). Well, it wasn’t before long that we realized the miscommunication and understanding as we navigated between buildings that appeared to be of massive containers deliveries from Temu. Hard to believe once rated the Top 10 Best U.S. Flea Market by Fodor’s Travel (2015).
- We drove past the first home (Daytona Beach, FL) that ever built/purchased in the late 80’s.
- We explored Ormond Beach, FL and South Daytona Beach, FL area.
- Had the worst French cuisine dinner (Fernandina Beach, FL) that either of us have ever eaten. We were so bummed!

- We had errands we wished to do before our Marine Trawler Owners Association (MTOA) luncheon this afternoon but, we both lacked moving as hoped.
- Attended the Marine Trawler Owners Association (MTOA) FCC Luncheon at The Grille at Riverview (New Smyrna Beach, FL). Surprisingly, a familiar couple Mark & April (M/V Funny Farm) with many new ones. Well attended with 19 people. Finally, got to meet fellow Members and slip holders, Bert & Carlene S.
- Dashed over to the Dutch Oven Bread (New Smyrna Beach, FL) in hopes of some fresh bread but, they were sold out for the day. BUMMER!
- We enjoyed the downtown New Smyrna Beach, FL area lined with restaurant and shops.
- Ran a few errands (medication and Garmin for the tender, sadly it doesn’t fit).
- Visited Deland, FL. Another downtown area lined with restaurant and shops.
- This evening we had the opportunity meet up with Bert & Carlene S and tour their vessel. Beautiful and roomy!

Special Comments:
- Another day being equipped with a rental car.
- Since, I had never grocery shopped at a Winn-Dixie (Daytona Beach, FL) we switched it up today for a change. Gosh, do I miss my Giant, Sprouts, Wegmans, and Whole Foods store up north.
- Even with a car rental, we haven’t been able to find a Asian store since Maryland. We were fortunate to locate International Asian Market (South Daytona, FL) within a relatively short distance of the marina.
- My fear of running out of toilet paper has not gone away, so we hit Walmart Superstore (Daytona Beach, FL) for 4, 12 Pack of Scott Rapid Dissolve.
- Delicious lunch at Zen Bristo (Daytona Beach, FL).
- Happy Hour at Chart House (Daytona Beach, FL) with Carol & John S (M/V Moondance, N3520).

Special Comments:
- We struck out to find a marina in Titusville, FL with availability and/or able to accommodate our 6′ draft. After burning hours of calling and researching, we made the anonymous decision to extend our stay. Pleased Halifax Harbor Marina (Daytona Beach, FL) was able to accommodate us.
- Absolutely, love when marinas offer mobile pump out services. More marinas especially up north should offer this.
- This evening we finished the last of our whole chestnuts (roasted). A symbol the holiday season is officially over.

Special Comments:
- Since we both loathe CVS Pharmacy and challenges it imposes as full-time cruisers. We did a trial run with Amazon Pharmacy. Thus far, communication (online chat, emails, text) and service exceeds any pharmacy experience we have ever encountered. Knowing where we’ll be a week out has proven ease for marina deliveries too.
- Warm enough outside (68F) Jacques is working on some outdoor projects.
- Jacques finally got the adapter working properly. Onward with a mound of laundry before we have to hit the streets naked.
- Fellow Marine Trawlers Owners Association (MTOA) Members and neighbors stopped over, Bert & Carlene S (M/V Interlude).

- VHF hailed motoring S/V, unresponsive. Five horn blows, altered he course.
- Noticing narrow channels and lots of shoaling around here. Not for the faint hearted.
- For at least 20 minutes a 10′ dolphin entertained me on the bow. Often making eye contact and not all afraid of my jumping and screeching joy sounds. By the sightings their friends were invited to join too. Absolutely the highlight of this life!
- OMG, depending on what direction the wind blows the nearby “bird island” stinks from Rookery Island.
- Briefly walked downtown New Smyrna Beach, FL.
- Walked over to River Deck (New Smyrna Beach, FL) for lunch.

Special Comments:
- At 9AM Jacques walked over to Canal Street for daily baked goodies from Dutch Oven Bread Co (New Smyrna Beach, FL). We now understand all the hype!
- Jacques spent the morning the engine room investigating a leak. Fingers crossed it’s fixed!
- We set out for lunch on foot (20 minutes) off Canal Street for French cuisine. However, lured by the week special of wine displayed outside at Corkscrew Bar & Grill (New Smyrna Beach, FL). The wine…Barolo, a full-bodied Italian red wine made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes in the Piedmont region. Renowned as “the king of wines“, it features high acidity, firm tannins, and signature aromas of roses, tar, and cherry. Something that we served our wedding guest during our reception. Delicious lunch!
- After lunch we walked up and down Canal Street. Stopping at various shops. Found nothing that I couldn’t live without or know that I needed. With the bakery near closing we popped in with some curiosity as to what the bakery had left. Yelp, we walked out with a few more goodies.
- Upon our vessel arrival we couldn’t help but to notice a turtle swimming to our starboard side in the vacant slip.
- Watched starboard neighbors arrive (M/V Rumblefish) in light current and winds. Also, America’s Great Loop Cruisers’ Association (AGLCA) members.
- Fellow Marine Trawler Owners Asscioation (MTOA) members, Ron & Mary B (M/V We’re Here) stopped over to visit.

- MTOA members, Ron & Mary B (M/V We’re Here) picked us up for lunch at Voo La Voo Cafe Sylvie Le Nouail (New Smyrna Beach, FL). Delicious!
- MTOA members, Ron & Mary B (M/V We’re Here) took us to provision at Perrine’s Produce (New Smyrna Beach, FL). Great prices! Store reminded me of a IGA grocery store.
- Met marina neighbors and fellow AGLCA members, Bob & Cheryl G (M/V Silver Lining).
- In preparation, of the weekend freezing temperatures Jacques maintenance our Hurricane Heater.
- Had to ask a youth to leave our finger pier. After all, marina signage does say no fishing from city docks. Docks are for boaters and their guests. A common issue here, the marina really needs to fix their miniature door gate and combo pad issue.

Special Comments:
- This morning conveniently across from our marina beyond the Old Fort Park Archeological Site (interesting history) was the New Smyrna Beach Farmers’ Market (New Smyrna Beach, FL) from 7AM -12PM. Found some homemade cheeses, pastries, and outdoor rug. One of the best farmer’s markets we have attended since our cruise began. Bumped into Bob G (M/V Silver Lining) there too.
- Noticing three mini buses across from the marina, Jacques inquired with the one of the drivers and learned Volusia County’s Public Transit System inexpensively picks and drop off at select places. Jacques qualified for a senior discount, so a roundtrip cost us $6 ($4 Adult & $2 Senior). Discussions of a incoming acquisition are subject to change the rates. Since, our southbound journey we have had to utilize Uber on several occasions, with rates ranging from $20 – $38 one way. Met a kind elderly gentleman, Greg residing in the assisted living apartments.
- From DE to FL, we shopped at one of the best Publix (Store#1619) at New Smyrna Beach Regional Shopping Center (New Smyrna Beach, FL). According to residents even cheaper then the other Publix Super Market at Indian River Village Shopping Center (S Atlantic Ave).
- Marine Trawler Owners Association (MTOA), Mary & Ron B (M/V We’re Here) for dinner at their son Adam’s restaurant, SoNapa Grille (New Smyrna Beach, FL). By the end of Jacques’ appetizer (Lamb Lollipop), any and all table manners were gone. As a little girl, we had a few sheep, when one of the females could no longer produce milk, I bottle fed her lamb. As a result, this lamb bonded, exhibiting behavior more like a dog than a lamb. Ever since, I just can’t bring myself to eat lamb. Anyways, cave man Jacques enjoyed every last possible bite of his lollipop bone. (LOL). Impeccable service and everything was absolutely delicious! Someday we look forward to visiting his venues in Jacksonville, FL and Ormond Beach, FL.

Tuesday, February 3, 2026 (Day 90)
Anchored: Cocoa, FL (N28°20.997′ W80°43.060′)
Special Comments:
- Hoping temps warm up to drop our tender to explore Cocoa downtown area.
- Marine Trawler Owners Association (MTOA), Mary & Ron B (M/V We’re Here) made aware of our French cuisine interest, recommended the Café Margaux (Cocoa, FL). Again, local temps needs to warm up to enjoy a tender stroll.
- Sadly, for us Youtube Channel we follow, Trying Not to Sink (M/V Triton) are up north while their vessel remains at their home port, Titusville Marina (Titusville, FL) which is just on the other side of the bridge from our anchorage spot. So close, yet so far.
Next Stop: Unknown (Wednesday, 2/4/26)
Wednesday, February 4, 2026 (Day 91)
Anchored: – Cocoa, FL (N28°20.987′ W80°43.058′)
Special Comments:
- Before our anchorage departure (roughly 8AM) we had the pleasure of spotting another Nordy passing, M/V Roaming Free (N5025). Captured a photo with a leading dolphin then quickly decided to take a short video for Brandon M.
- This morning (8:41AM) during our voyage south Jacques had to blow his own at SeaRay vessel. NO AIS, so he maneuvered to gesture a port to port in the channel. Suddenly, cuts across our bow to pass us on starboard. Crazy driver! First mate, universal language without VHF conveyed.
- By 9AM Jacques turned the vessel around back to Cocoa, FL based on incoming rain and marina availability in Vero Beach, FL. UGH, somedays!
- With the marina availability in Vero Beach we asked about their mooring field. Which they have but also tie up multiple vessels, to which Jacques respond this is a Nordhavn, we’ll destroy any other vessel given our height, hull, and weight. Call receiver mentioned Nordhavn familiarity, yet confused to the mention and conversation.
- Upon our anchorage return noticed two dolphins near us, less than 60′. Love it!
- Today’s temperature to reach 74°F by 2 PM; we didn’t mind returning and staying longer to explore Cocoa, FL area. The tender dropped; I can tell you the air temperature was not as forecasted. New Wenner Park (Cocoa, FL) public dock was unusable due to damage, and signage instructed people to stay off of it. We noticed several tender lines tied off to a fence, but climbing a concrete seawall like rock climbing exceeded my desire. No restaurant docks to consider. We even tried Cocoa Village Marina (Cocoa, FL) and were willing to pay a fee for a few hours, but struck out there too. No French bakery or cuisine today! WONK, WONK!
- Tender ride back, BURR! I got the cheap seat so it was cold and wet. Now, guess who’s cookin’ dinner tonight (LOL)? Literally, the taste of revenge (LOL).

Special Comments:
- Passed (starboard) a submerged sailboat with only the mast protruding from the water.
- M/V Dive Master (N82) is docked (Slip A11) here too. Couldn’t find the owners on NOG or FB NCG. HHHmmmmm!
- Watched M/V Miss Mosey single handling dock behind us.
- Shortly after passing our first bridge, we noticed a pod of dolphins.
- Passed a submerged sailboat with only the tall mast protruding from the water. Not noted on the charts or even any markers around it. For all the years we cruised the Mid-Atlantic region, we heard about the Florida’s derelict vessel issues. It was actually shocking to see this during our vessel repositioning in 2023 from West Palm Beach, FL (to Georgetown, MD). Now, that we’re here ourselves, we understand the shoreline residents’ complaints.
- While cruising the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW) along the Indian River for quite a while, 3 dolphins played along our bow.
- Approaching the marina, four beautiful dolphins followed us in and stayed playing to our starboard. As if to know, we were docking and to stay off our bow. It was most distracting and got me in trouble with my Captain regarding my task at hand: locating our dock as assigned.
- Thanks, to our Marine Trawler Owners Association (MTOA) membership and reciprocity we’re having dinner at the adjacent Vero Beach Yacht Club tonight. Slogan “For Fun and Friendship” since 1926.

- We stopped at Deep Six Dive & Watersports (Vero Beach, FL) where Jacques was able to get fitted for dive suit. Also, got boots and a divers flash light in the event he ever needs to inspect the bottom.
- Lunch at First Watch (Vero Beach, FL).
- Still not ready to trust me with shears to trim his hair, a stop at Great Clips (Vero Beach, FL) was also warranted.
- Uncertain when I would conveniently see a ULTA (Vero Beach, FL) again, that too was warranted for face sun protection and face hydrator.
- Anticipating anchoring next we made a stop to Publix Super Market at Treasure Coast Plaza (Vero Beach, FL) too. For our convenience, brought a Uber (thanks Jose) back.
- Upon our vessel arrival, Peter B as recommended by the marina was here to inspect and scrub the hull bottom. We haven’t had it cleaned since our 2024 winter storage and surprisingly only had scum. Way to go Triton paint! Only charged us $60.
- This evening, watched two race row boats practicing.

- Afterwards, we had a wonderful time exploring the mangroves via tender. Since, we were washing the exterior I forgot my cell phone inside. WONK, WONK!
- Observed a someone via tender bring many collapsible water jugs for filling. Now, that’s commitment for mooring ball life.

- Mobile pump out service is only on Monday and Thursday. Day prior office sign up required. Boat owners are required to be present as services commence at 8AM. So, forced to stay onboard, I’m getting a jumpstart to our dirty laundry.
- This evening is a Meet & Greet social at the marina. However, after hearing several folks in the mooring field have fallen hill with possibly the norovirus. We’ll be skipping the event. I just recently recovered from the flu. Which required a inhaler and antibiotics.
- Mike from the office mentioned there was a baby manatee sighting in the mooring ball field.
- Lunch delivery from Massimo’s Beachside Pizza (Vero Beach, FL).

Moored: Sunset Bay Marina & Anchorage (Stuart, FL) (Mooring Ball#56)
Special Comments:
- Well, the mention of pastries had Jacques dashing off the boat by tender for the marinas Wake Up with Sunset Bay hosted in the lounge area from 9AM – 11AM. Upon his return he had a great time feasting and meeting other transients.
- We were going to test our water maker here, until another boater mentioned not advised since this bay connects with Lake Okeechobee which is apparently filled with fertilizer and chemicals.
- Jacques inner boy always seems to resonate with any opportunity for a tender ride. Truly reminds me of teenagers on learner’s permits, eager to run errands (LOL). Off to retrieve our medication delivery. It’s been several months and orders now, and we can’t praise Amazon Pharmacy enough for communication, convenience, and reorder ease.
- This evening, we attended the marina’s social event, the Valentine’s Potluck. Well attended. Great to meet so many fellow full-time cruisers! Lou & George (M/V Palpations) one of my favorite couple met.

- Lunch at Sailor’s Return with MTOA & AGLCA Members, Lee & Lisa P (M/V L&L).
- With the sun on our faces and our hair blowing in the wind, it turned out to be a wet tender stroll from the cheap seats at the bow. My Captain gave only two options (LOL)…(1) Go slow and get wet? (2) Go fast, hold on, and bounce around? Pretty sure, napping babies along St Lucie River were awaken by screams as ice cube water splashed on me. BURR!

Wednesday, February 18, 2026 (Day 105) – Sunday, March 1, 2026 (Day 116)
Moored: Sunset Bay Marina & Anchorage (Stuart, FL) (Mooring Ball#56)
Special Comments:
- (Wed, 2/18/26) Kissed my Captain goodbye this morning, as he ventured to the marina to play Mah Jongg. However, he did not stay long because apparently he was outnumbered by estrogen (LOL); determined that my
evil twin sent him off to a Ladies’ event (LOL). - Still long enough, it’s been nice to coordinate mail deliveries.
- Gorgeous day, less windy and calmer waters. Lots of boat traffic is keeping us rolly today. In the past, days we noticed the police stopping vessels not respecting the “no wake zone”, no sighting of them today.
- (Thu, 2/19/26) Jacques attended the marina men’s Romeo (Retired Old Men Eating Out) luncheon this afternoon at Sailor’s Return (Stuart, FL). LOL!
- (Fri, 2/20/26) With a cold front arriving early next week, we decided to stay. So, we left our tender tied to the mooring ball and headed to the marina’s courtesy dock for water. While there we tapped off our tank after running the dishwasher, long hot showers, rinsing off the deck from gnats, and doing two loads of laundry (on solar, as there’s no electrical tower). Dried the two loads on solar power once back on the mooring ball.
- While on the courtesy dock Jacques had the opportunity to meet Jon D & Patti T (M/V Kestrel, N8001). I was too focus on water tasks.
- (Sat, 2/21/26) Had lunch at the Waterfront (Stuart, FL). Delicious food and our waiter Dylan was fantastic.
- Walked downtown area where the main street was blocked off for The 36th Annual Downtown Stuart Art Festival. Some really impressive pieces and talent.
- Took a tender stroll over to Safe Harbor Harborage Yacht Club (Stuart, FL) where we spotted two Nordhavns; M/V At Last (N4312) and M/V Kaos, N52, we actually had the pleasure of meeting Scott & Elaine S.
- Upon our tender return we met our mooring ball neighbors, Jennifer & Michael W (M/V Up Spirits).
- (Sun, 2/22/26) With incoming winds of gusts to 25/+ we stowed the tender away this morning. At one point we clocked 34.2kn winds.
- (Mon, 2/23/26) Mobile pump out service arrived even in 32/+kn winds!
- Here’s a first! Along the St Lucie River, there are three bridges in close proximity of one another: Old Roosevelt Bridge (draw), Florida East Coast (FEC) Railway Bridge which normally stays open unless a train is coming, and a high level Roosevelt Bridge. Mid afternoon today, 2/23/26 the marine police hailed FEC via VHF for a bridge opening but was quickly denied. Marine police were enroute to assist a vessel with two people onboard who feared crashing into rocks. Unresponsive dispatch forced the marine officer(s) to wait five minutes (or so) before opening.
- Staying warm inside while the wind is howling. Replaced (2) Skylight Oceanair Blackout Shades for Dometic with Dual Oceanair Blackout Shade & Insect Screen SRS-40 LEWMAR 40 (16.9/16″) in the forward berth.
- (Tue, 2/24/26) Today marks my birthday, my only wish is to stay onboard with Jacques catering to me. Sometimes, it’s just the simplest things that make me happy. BURR, it’s cold outside!
- (Thu, 2/26/26) Lunch from Basil Garden Stuart (Stuart, FL).
- (Sat, 2/8/26) Hot, humid, and rain has kept us indoors the past two days.
- (Sun, 3/1/26) At 7:34PM SpaceX Falcon 9 (Starlink Group 10-41) launched from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station (Cape Canaveral, FL). While our location was not ideal for a sky sighting, we were willing to try until we realized the grace window span would likely exceed our bedtime.

Departure: Sunset Bay Marina & Anchorage (Stuart, FL) (Mooring Ball#56) 6:54AM
Special Comments:
- Ever have one of those days where you think, maybe you should have just stayed in bed a bit longer because it seems like the moment your feet hit the floor it was going to be a bad day? We purposely left at that hour to avoid the rail bridge closure, only to be caught by a delayed cargo train (so much for live online status updates), touched aground just beyond the first three bridges (yes, we departed high tide and were in the marked channel), cut off along the ICW on our bow by power vessel (he had already passed our port side and cut in front of our bow, turned around to do it again), bad docking (opposing strong current and wind), and no shore power upon our arrival (minds instantly go to possibly our inverter or power cord issue, nope dock pedestal issue). It’s only past noon, and it’s been a day! Somebody, please have a drink for me, “oh, it’s five o’clock somewhere“.
- Approaching the marina, we noticed a beautiful Nordhavn (M/V Ammonite). A 78′ charter vessel able to accommodate 6 guest persons and a crew of 3.
- Sometimes, it’s easy to detect those that are nonmoving full-time liveaboards with a marina waterfront condo as their personal belongings clutter the dock.
- Early dinner at Rafiki Tiki Bar & Grill (Riviera Beach, FL).

Tuesday, March 3, 2026 (Day 118) – Sunday, March 8, 2026 (Day 123)
Docked: Riviera Beach Marina Village (formerly Riviera Beach City Marina) Riviera Beach, FL (Slip N13)
Special Comments:
- (Tue, 3/3/26) We completely missed the total lunar eclipse (red moon) this morning at 3:44AM. Time passed counting the ZZzz’s.
- Interior cleaning and laundry day onboard.
- Jacques visited the Boat Owners Warehouse (Riviera Beach, FL).
- (Wed, 3/4/26) Jacques had the opportunity to chat with the owner of M/V Liberty.
- Provisioned at Walmart Superstore. Yikes, were there lots of employees and security. Left uncertain whether we felt safer or unsettled.
- (Thu, 3/5/26) Marina Technician arrived to repair the power tower. A friendly reminder, to the Boating Community if you see something, say something. It may benefit another boater.
- Jacques repainted the exterior window trim to remove the snap white mesh coverings to apply perforated vinyl covering on the starboard windows (3) and cockpit door (1). Gosh, the salon is so much brighter and appears larger.
- (Fri, 3/6/26) We received a morning knock from a young man soliciting his dive services. While we appreciate the hustle. He would never earn our business, observing him to knock on our neighbors hull exterior (M/V Liberty) and when there was no response. He boarded the luxury vessel and proceeded to knock on the salon door and waited there for awhile again with no response. When I asked, Jacques how did he get past the gate, he mentioned working on a vessel a few boats up. Boarding a vessel without permission is like opening a unlocked door on land, it’s the sense of entitlement that draws the line.
- Jacques finished covering the cockpit windows (2) with perforated vinyl. Only the port side windows (3) left to do whenever we can flip the boat around. Gosh, the salon is so much brighter and appears larger.
- Spa day for our dirty girl.
- Three persons in canoe/kayak left the marina for the adjacent Peanut Island and due to the current strength were brought back to their slip by the local marine police.
- (Sat, 3/7/26) Lunch at Le Molière French Café, Bakery & Deli (North Palm Beach, FL).
- Upon our lunch return there was a barricade across the dock. We both assumed there was a electrical tower issue, with racing hearts, we quickly learned it was not the marinas install but, our neighbors. A dock width size dog gate as both began running towards us barking. WTF!
- Peanut Island is poppin’ today! This morning when we left there was Spanish music playing loudly, even I who understand found it annoying and loud. By afternoon, we were onto rap with competing other music sounds. Clearly written conduct is not enforced!
- (Sun, 3/8/26) Tasks day onboard before tomorrows departure.
- Jacques finally was able to test our water maker. Looks to be working well.
- Dockside pump out. Thanks, AJ!
- Spoke with a couple on the dock who just purchased their vessel just last week and plan to commence their Great Loop adventure next month for the next year.

Monday, March 9, 2026 (Day 124)
Departure: Riviera Beach Marina Village (formerly Riviera Beach City Marina) Riviera Beach, FL (Slip N13) 7:40AM
Special Comments:
- Captain presented me with two choices for today: #1 ICW Route with Lots of Bridges (24 Total with 2 Opening Required) + Traffic or #2 Offshore Cruising (Get Over the New Fear). Easy decision #2! So, debate on setting the alarm clock for slack tide departure. Our departure was delayed by roughly 15 minutes, but getting off the dock and turning around to exit at slack tide (otherwise, there would have been a strong fairway current) was flawless. I was a bit apprehensive last evening after observing vessels turning sideways in the fairway current for a week and, on several occasions, coming extremely close to docked vessels. Farewell, Riviera Beach, FL.
- Exiting the inlet and roughly the first mile was a bit pitchy and rolly, but certainly tolerable, remain seated or be seated. As the morning progressed, it calmed down. As calm as it appeared, maneuvering onboard tested your core strength. Yelp, and just like that, after two hours of repetitive motion, the zombie trance surfaced. Kudos to all the commercial seafarers who do this every day!
- Jacques drove from the flybridge until we got past the inlet. First time driving up there in awhile.
- Five hours of a ocean cruising today. A bit pitchy and rolly but tolerable. Just requires one to be seat or be seated. Whether rational or irrational, “fear” can creep into the mind when the brain’s alarm system detects a threat (aka: rogue beam waves in New Jersey) and signals the hypothalamus and brainstem, releasing adrenaline and cortisol. Being driven by past experience or worries is designed for survival. I may or may not have said a prayer last night and this morning.
- Today’s uneventful ocean crossing is one step towards reprogramming my brain’s alarm system. They say, “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger”. While there were no confetti poppers, champagne, or even a lemon-scented towelette upon our marina arrival, I did it and didn’t cop out on the ocean today.
- Sipping my morning coffee from the salon and looking out the starboard windows, seeing the turquoise and blue ocean was absolutely spectacular (perforated window vinyl vs mesh covering).
- Heard USCG VHF alert to mariners upon receiving a distress call without vessel name or location.
- We were disappointed not to see any marine life during our cruise, but we’re surely not complaining about the brilliantly clear turquoise blue water on our crossing and warm weather outside, 83°F.
- New to “snow bird life,” the boating community and residents have told us “peak Spring Break season” is almost here (mid until the end of March). So, Florida will get busier than this?!?
- Delicious lunch at Mason’s Famous Lobster Rolls (Ft Lauderdale, FL).

Tuesday, March 10, 2026 (Day 125) – Tuesday, March 17, 2026 (Day 132)
Docked: Bahia Mar Yachting Center (Ft Lauderdale, FL) (Slip B233)
Special Comments:
- (Wed, 3/11/26) Picked up our rental car with our shopping focus: West Marine (WM), Boat Owners Warehouse (BOW), National Marine Suppliers (NMS), Sailorman New & Used Marine (SM), and Bluewater Books & Charts (BBC). We also stopped at Lewis Marine Supply which had a limited shelf inventory. Nothing purchased there.
- Delicious Thai lunch at Siam House Thailand Restaurant (Ft Lauderdale, FL). Followed by a overdue haircut for Jacques.
- (Thu, 3/12/26) We stopped for breakfast at Lester’s Diner (Ft Lauderdale, FL). Shopping focus: Brownie’s Southport Divers, Sprouts (Oakland Park, FL), Hobby Lobby (Dania Beach, FL).
- Today was really humid with afternoon showers. Like out of no where winds picked up (18kn). Seated in the salon, I heard a loud sound, looked out the window and two dock boxes blew into the water. Before we could take any action they sank in the slip. Jacques advised the marina office accordingly.
- This afternoon a representative from Stabilized Marine (Ft Lauderdale, FL) came to inspect our stabilizers for upcoming maintenance. The stabilizer upgrade that Jacques wanted is scratched with price starting at $20K.
- This evening, we provisioned at Publix.
- (Fri, 3/13/26) Jacques in passing met the marina GM who advised a diver has been contacted to retrieve the sunken two dock boxes.
- After multiple markings, Jacques cleaned the power cord.
- Managed to squeeze in a mani and pedi before returning the car today.
- Pouring buckets on and off. Many roads flooding!
- (Sat, 3/14/26) At 2:52AM our security detected a person on our starboard. Jacques inquired with the marina office if there were any other complaints, nope. Staffer agreed, had the motion light turned they were up to no good at that hour as it appeared one of the two was preparing to board.
- Another hot and humid day outside. Cleaning and laundry onboard.
- (Sun, 3/15/26) We were planning to visit the beach today but, it’s a rainy all day. Downright torrential at times.
- (Mon, 3/16/26) Busy morning of phone calls to coordinate tomorrows haul out Playboy Marina Center (Dania Beach, FL). Pieces of the puzzle finally fell into place but, it was a workout.
- Dockside slip side pump out this morning 10:15AM.
- This afternoon we walked over to the beach.
- Late lunch/early dinner at Breezes (Fort Lauderdale, FL).
Next Stop: Playboy Marina Center (Dania Beach, FL) (Tuesday, 3/17/26)?

Tuesday, March 17, 2026 (Day 132)
Departure: Bahia Mar Yachting Center (Ft Lauderdale, FL) (Slip B233) 6:45AM
Special Comments:
- As we began our departure tasks it was still black outside.
- Exiting the fairway the vessels transporting vessels back and forth to marina was kind to hold back until we got situated in the channel.
- Very little boat traffic.
- We noticed a large private yacht with a bow and stern tow, and quickly realized as to why along the New River cut area. Strong current!
- A short cruise to Dania Beach, FL. On approach, there’s no signage from the water. Two docked mega yachts parked on either side of the haul out entrance/exit. Passing the mega yacht to our port side, had rented floating docks with four story high scaffolding. Crazy! At one point, to center ourselves in the sling, we had approximately six inches between us and them. Crazy! Clearing the corner was less than 2″. Crazy!
- William, Lift Operator and Crew were standing and waiting our arrival.
- Surprisingly, our bottom paint was fairly clean and lacked barnacles. Quick costly power wash. Disappointed that the green sling markings could not be washed away once blocked. Some bottom paint rub marks from going aground.
- William, Lift Operator and Crew were quick and very efficient in getting our girl blocked.
- Shortly, after getting blocked, Jacques noticed another bottom being painted and inquired. As our luck would have it, Patagonia Services Division LLC (Dania Beach, FL) were able to coordinate as well. By early afternoon, they were present to prep the surface. Did require that we extend our stay until Tuesday, 3/24/26.
- As scheduled, Stabilized Marine (Davie, FL) arrived for our NAIAD Stabilizers.
- Jacques and I stayed onboard until the boatyard was due to close. So proud of myself for managing to climb on and off a ladder. Usually two steps from the top my legs cave out and I have aborted other attempts.
- Mixed emotions about leaving the vessels and staying at a hotel, Embassy Suites by Hilton Fort Lauderdale 17th Street (Ft Lauderdale, FL). We’ll be living out of backpacks, sleeping in a king size bed, unlimited hot water showers, and toilet flushes without any concern whether tanks are filling. Now, that part will be nice.
- Extending our hotel stay online at Embassy Suites by Hilton Fort Lauderdale 17th Street (Ft Lauderdale, FL) was problematic requiring three separate reservations even with a representative aid. The Front Desk was able to assist but, suggest that we check back at a later time on availability on our gap on Sunday, 3/22/26 to Monday, 3/23/26.
- For convenience, we dined onsite, at the TASTE Restaurant & Bar. Two stars is being a generous rating. YUK!
Haul Out: Playboy Marina Center (Dania Beach, FL) 7:30AM
Wednesday, March 18, 2026 (Day 133) – Sunday, March 22, 2026 (Day 137)
Blocked: Playboy Marina Center (Dania Beach, FL)
Special Comments:
- (Wed, 3/18/26) Cold and rainy day.
- Jacques went to the vessel by himself as I lounged around the hotel, Embassy Suites by Hilton Fort Lauderdale 17th Street (Ft Lauderdale, FL). Gosh, very quiet without him being around. He actually bolted out of the door after our security camera detected a person walking around the gangway. No need for the painters from Patagonia Services Division LLC (Dania Beach, FL) to be there and knew how to access Stabilized Marine (Davie, FL) and furthermore before their proposed start time. Jacques showing the footage to the Security Guard suggested it was a Patagonia Services Division LLC (Dania Beach, FL). When Jacques tracked him down, he stated he was to remove a ice maker, which would have come to a big surprise because we don’t have one onboard.
- Seems as though majority of our Uber drivers don’t speak English, which is fine. Until “No Turn on Red” is violated on a busy highway and driving on the shoulder in a Telsa.
- When something taste so good, we don’t mind returning. Fantastic dinner, Siam House Thailand Restaurant (Fort Lauderdale, FL).
- (Thu, 3/19/26) As suggested, this morning Jacques inquired on his way to breakfast (I’m not a breakfast person) at the Front Desk about bridging our Sunday, 3/22/26 gap at Embassy Suites by Hilton Fort Lauderdale 17th Street (Ft Lauderdale, FL). Unable to accommodate us, rather then leave the property for one night we canceled our third reservation, and will relocate to the Hampton Inn Ft Lauderdale Airport North Cruise Port (Ft Lauderdale, FL) property.
- Patagonia Services Division LLC (Dania Beach, FL) was able to port side set up scaffolding for Jacques to finish applying the perforated vinyl window covering on the three salon windows.
- According to Jacques, Stabilized Marine (Davie, FL) is on target for completing today, 3/19/26 and Patagonia Services Division LLC (Dania Beach, FL) are finishing sooner then projected, sometime tomorrow. However, Playboy Marina Center (Dania Beach, FL) is booked.
- On Tuesday, 3/17/26 which was St Patrick’s Day as we approached Embassy Suites by Hilton Fort Lauderdale 17th Street (Ft Lauderdale, FL), across the street Waxy’s Irish Pub (Ft Lauderdale, FL) was packed! Outdoor line. So, this evening we walked over for dinner.
- YIKES, East Coast beaches of Florida through Friday are reported not ideal for spring breakers or vacationers. High wind gusts 25-35 MPH, rough surf, and high rip current threat. Strong onshore flow also making it feel much cooler.
- (Fri, 320/26) Gosh, it’s hard to believe it’s the first day of Spring. Our friends are anxious and counting down until their splash day.
- Rainy morning just as Jacques set to leave the hotel.
- Stabilized Marine (Davie, FL) finishing up on-time as suggested.
- Patagonia Services Division LLC (Dania Beach, FL) wrapping up sooner than originally thought.
- Playboy Marina Center (Dania Beach, FL) booked on Monday, 3/23/26 now has 3PM vacancy for a incoming 68′ yacht. So, our splash date and time has moved accordingly.
- Our Hampton Inn Ft Lauderdale Airport North Cruise Port (Ft Lauderdale, FL) reservation also modified.
- Never a dull moment! As a black and white thinker, pivoting from plans is always the hardest adaptation.
- WOW, Daytona Beach City Commission had to enforce a Emergency Ordnance during Spring Break to enforce a 8PM – 6AM curfew for persons under 18 years old.
- (Sat, 3/21/26) What a gorgeous day! Sunny but, not nearly as cool or humid as it’s been.
- We walked over to Ace Hardware (Ft Lauderdale, FL). A little bit of shopping therapy at TJ Maxx (Ft Lauderdale, FL) followed by lunch at Siam House Thailand Restaurant (Fort Lauderdale, FL). Managed to walk-in and coordinate a couples massage at MJ Massage (Ft Lauderdale, FL). Finally, struck the jackpot with the hidden gem of International Market & Fine Wine (Ft Lauderdale, FL).
- (Sun, 3/22/26) We checked out of Embassy Suites by Hilton Fort Lauderdale 17th Street (Ft Lauderdale, FL) this morning. Came to the boat to unpack our personal belongings and purchases until able to check in at the next property (4PM).
- Climbing ladders by the top last top two my legs begin to quiver, so I’m proud of myself every time I overcome the fear and only done when absolutely required.
- On blocks and with the stilts I noticed a slight lean. According to Jacques and the pilothouse level, it’s only about 1°. Certainly feels and looks like more.
- Checking into the Hampton Inn Ft Lauderdale Airport North Cruise Port (Ft Lauderdale, FL).

Special Comments:
- We checked out of the Hampton Inn Ft Lauderdale Airport North Cruise Port (Ft Lauderdale, FL) and lingered onboard.
- Had another inexpensive Food Truck (Four JJJJ) lunch.
- Met Lisa precious granddaughter, Brooke. Just a few months old.
- Said our farewells to the Playboy Marina Center (Dania Beach, FL) staff.
- Raymond from Stabilized Marine (Ft Lauderdale, FL) departed with us for a sea trial and to Bahia Mar Yachting Center (Ft Lauderdale, FL). There was a minor issue that Parker was able to bring the replacement with a quick fix. WOW, we were shocked to learn that we were the first vessel to ever offer a Safety Debrief for a Sea Trial.
- With three lines secured, I came inside to only find out the poor dock hand misjudged his steps and fell into the water.
- Our girl got a much needed and deserved bath upon marina arrival. Gosh, the boatyard dust is everywhere inside and out. Catching up on laundry too.

As much as we would have loved cruising southbound to the Bahamas, land obligations are pushing us back up north for land obligations. So, we’re forced to slowly make our way while being mindful of possible weather delays. Thanks, for following along and be sure to follow Snowbirds Northbound Journey.
