Comments: Ace Hardware store is located on Holland Avenue, one block past Hannaford, roughly 10 – 12 minute walk.

Adjacent waterfront property has a pool which had hours of daytime screaming.

Bar Harbor enacted strict daily passenger caps (1,000), so there’s no massive ocean liners flooding the town pier; only smaller, domestic coastal vessels, like smaller boutique lines are permitted to dock and disembark passengers at the John B Ells Municipal Facility such as American Cruise Line (Guest Capacity 210). Cruise Ship Traffic.

Bar Harbor Laundromat (6 Pleasant Street) is within walking distance. Open 24 hours daily. Costs around $4.00 – $4.50 per load.

During our stay we observed a 60′ sailboat desiring to moor off our port side, the only mooring ball rental available. However, they declined as the lobster lines were surrounding it with concern of damaging their prop. Justifiably, possible with any swing. Sailboater hailed the Harbormaster and there was nothing he could do as the lobster pot was one with three lines, which he’s not permitted to touch. The Harbormaster was kind to suggest nearby anchoring. Sad that the Pier had to loss compensation for this avoidable situation.

Extreme caution navigating into the mooring field. Buoys and traps are heavily concentrated near the pier area.

For provisioning, Hannaford is located just up the road on Cottage Street, roughly 7 – 10 minute walk.

HarborMaster said, Mooring Balls are marked however, we found no such markings whether numbers or words, rather a very fainted blue strip. Confirmed we grabbed the correct mooring ball.

Iconic and scenic Bar Harbor Shore Path starts at the pier next to Agamont Park.

Lyft and Uber are incredibly rare and unreliable on Mount Desert Island (MDI) use At Your Service Taxi or Bar Harbor Coastal Cab.

Mooring Field nor pier offers no north or northeast wind protection. Consider relocating to Northeast Harbor or Southwest Harbor.

Municipal pier does not provide laundry amenities or public showers.

On busy cruise ship days, late afternoon buses heading back toward downtown can face heavy demand and be standing room only capacity. Plan accordingly.

Several tour boats cut through the mooring field less than 3′ of vessel to cut the corner headed southbound.

Showers can be purchased for a small fee at the MDI YMCA (21 Park Street).

The Bar Harbor Village Green Bus Hub, is located roughly three walking blocks away (about 5 minutes) straight up Main Street from the pier.

The “No Wake” Marker excludes a few of the transient mooring ball rentals. Many of the commercial vessels disrespect the no wake zone making it rolly.

Top off your water tanks with fresh water hookups at the town slips. Check in directly with the harbormaster’s staff on duty before tying up or running your hoses. Main pier has a strict 1 hour maximum tie up limit unless you have explicit permission from the harbormaster.

Town Pier lot is designated as a premium parking area. Paid parking is enforced daily from May 1st – October 30th. Last known, premium rates were $6/hourly. Kiosks accept major credit/debit cards, local tokens, and quarters. Cash paper bills are not accepted. Pay and track your remaining time using the ParkMobile App.

Town trash dumpster is conveniently located right at the landing for easy disposal.

While moored, a seal was spotted surfacing.

Use a basic cable lock to secure your dinghy and outboard to the dock if leaving it unattended for any extended period of time.

When there’s no commercial vessel traffic, it’s actually a quiet mooring field.

While the Island Explorer Shuttle is complimentary, you must possess a valid Acadia National Park entry pass to ride any bus entering park boundaries. Passes can be purchased at the Visitor Center on the corner of Cottage and Main Streets.
