2026 Voyages

Sandy Hook, NJ to Atlantic City, NJ

Thursday, October 1, 2026

Departure: Anchorage – Sandy Hook, NJ (N40°28.097′ W74°00.857′) 5:15AM

Special Comments:

  • Jacques proposed that I could stay in bed sleeping but the moment the engine light was turned on followed by pilothouse footsteps any sleep was doomed as a light sleeper.
  • Gosh, the trawler that was anchored to our port was already gone this morning.
  • Interesting looking sunrise with vibrant pink piercing through the sky.
  • Appears a cold front moving in will delay our departure and overnight cruise until Thursday, 10/8/26 for the best offshore conditions.
  • Seas have been relatively calm. Periodically, a 3′ swell with long period causing a bow splash onto the forward pilothouse windows.
  • WOW, like where is everyone? Barely any marine traffic out here.
  • Jacques cranked up the throttle 3 miles out to get out some loose cob webs as he likes to call for 5 minutes, with current and wind on the bow to 8.4KN.
  • Lordy, after a 12 hour run the last thing expected upon arrival is a inexperienced dock hand. He kept telling Jacques to move back but, had the midline checked so tight that we weren’t going to move back, while I had a working bow line and Jacques when ready could toss the stern line since driving from the cockpit. But, he just stood there in a daze with a checked spring line holding the bitter end. Fortunately, when Jacques drives from the cockpit he likes to give the instructions to the dockhand(s). Upon asked him to take the stern line, but he just stood there, I quickly tied the bow line and hopped off to grab the stern line. Fortunately, we have stayed here before otherwise if this was our first experience no bueno comes to mind.
  • Just two slips down from us is the red hull sailboat that we encountered on the East River, NY to Sandy Hook, NJ that powered just zig zagged like they were tacking the entire time.
  • Also, on E Dock face dock is M/V Encore and M/V To-Kalon both whom we have crossed wakes with before. Realization, how small the boating community truly is.
  • Early dinner followed by long showers and early night to bed.

Docked: Frank S Farley State Marina (Atlantic City, NJ) Slip#E27

Special Comments:

  • M/V To-Kalon with hired crew of 3 pushed off this morning. Shortly, thereafter M/V Encore left too.
  • Jacques had the opportunity to meet the couple onboard S/V Ceyenne. The red sailboat that kept zig zag while motoring, one minute to our starboard, bow, port and repeat. He inquired about and apparently they were wingin’ it and solely navigate on a small ipad screen.
  • Jacques treated our salty girl to a spa day. While I cleaned the interior. Shocking how we find dust even anchored or moored.
  • Quiet evening onboard, we still like long day of cruising lag.

Special Comments:

  • Cold, rainy, and windy morning.
  • Met up with Zuby and Illyas (N5509) for lunch at Jasmine Desi Asian Grill
(Galloway, NJ). The best naan we have ever had, slightly thicker than roti but thinner than naan. Made fresh and delicious.
  • Laundry day onboard.

  • Jacques is considering Virginia Beach, VA now instead of Cape Charles, VA due to fuel prices.
