Departure Day!
We enjoyed a front row seat from our cockpit of two commercial vessels net fishing (Mt Desert, ME). Observing two seals just circling around them. An surrounding fish just jumping out of the water as though they had been warned.
The view was so spectacular that I never thought 7.2KN was too fast that we throttled back to 6KN.
A lobster pot kept circling around us (Bar Harbor, ME), on several occasions the buoy nearly tapping the hull. Jacques phoned the harbormaster, Chris who came quickly to relocate it.
American Cruise Line vessel is anchored off our stern shuttling guests back and forth into town. Since, they lift anchor tomorrow we’ve decided to chill onboard today and venture into town tomorrow.
Poor S/V Windwalker was going to take the last mooring ball rental available; however surrounded by crab pots was concerned of their prop and justifiably so. Hailed the Harbormaster but, he’s unable to touch those as their 3 pots attached. While we have eaten our share of fresh lobster, I’m still shocked as to the volume of pots in the water, and not just anywhere but in the documented channel, anchorage and mooring fields.
So much commercial sightseeing tours in/out of Bar Harbor, ME. A few times we got rocked hard.
Shockingly, todays local temp was 80 but, felt like 86 and Jacques wanted a chicken casserole dish. Of course, I made it but too hot for such a dish.
While moored we observed the lifting and cleaning of a mooring ball. Three sailing ladies relentlessly trying to pull cord crank their tender engine.
WOW, what a beautiful sunset tonight!

Moored: Bar Harbor Municipal Pier – Mooring Ball (Bar Harbor, ME)

Jacques has finally adapted to the fact that I don’t always need nor want to be apart of his tender excursions like trash dumping.
Gosh, so much boat traffic for being a weekday.
Got a new bow neighbor, S/V Dream Chaser.
M/V Excellence, a 263′ just anchored following a Pilot boat escort. Valued at $120 million and crewed between 20 – 23, I decided that I wouldn’t even feed myself as the owner. I wouldn’t stop there, would need a beautician, nail technician, and masseuse onboard beyond the chef, dock hand, engineer, etc. Thanks, Herb for the chance of me daydreaming!
Our plan was to sightsee the town of Bar Harbor followed by a early dinner but, with 85% given my cardiac issue, it wasn’t worth the health risk for me. An since, Jacques had already walked the streets earlier in the day, he wasn’t interested in returning.
Left over dinner onboard. Shortly, thereafter perhaps from the rolliness I felt so nauseas. While I do have a RX for such, my blood thinner requires sparse use. So, I laid on my left side for awhile. It was touch and go with the commercial tour vessels causing rolliness. Suspect the sun, temperature, humidity, and heavy meal was the cause.
