Beal’s Lobster Pier (Southwest Harbor, ME) is accessible by foot or tender.
Downtown Southwest Harbor, ME area is a flat, easy 5 minute walk from the docks. That said, there is a steep hill getting to the main road.
IGA grocery store is along the edge of the town for provisioning. Vehicle required.
Island Explorer (Route 7, Southwest Harbor) shuttle bus stops directly along the main road near the enterance of the marina, as well as right in town. Two primary options: 1. Main Street / Clark Point Road from the marina and safely flag down the driver as the bus approaches. Drivers will pick up passengers anywhere it is safe to stop. 2. Southwest Harbor Post Office (21 Clark Point Road) if you prefer an established and scheduled stop.
Located in the heart of Acadia National Park and Mount Desert Island (MDI) area.
On Wednesday, 7/29/26 in speaking with Micah he advised knowing someone, Dave that could help with our boom/riggin’ issue. Could be here tomorrow, 7/30/26 in the AM. Well, the AM hours began slipping by, calling advised he would be here at 12PM. That timeframe came and went, at 2PM Jacques phoned the office to inquire and was told they’ll look into it. Well, by the close of business nobody called, emailed, or show up. So, we stayed hostage onboard for nothing! He appeared on Friday, 7/31/26 at 8AM unannounced. Fortunately for us, did inspect the repair needed and fix it at a reasonable price.
Owners, Ed and Mary Dysart, reside on-site and kept their M/V Ellis on A Dock during the summer months.
Parking area by the marina office is actually a dock. Be careful with elevated nails.
West Marine (Southwest Harbor, ME) is within walking distance. However, permanently closing soon in September 2026 as their offering 40% – 60% off sales. Neither real estate agents nor owners have announced it’s repurposed upcoming commercial use.
While there is signage for Little Notch Bakery (Southwest Harbor, ME) on the property they will refer you to downtown at their retail location. Sadly, this is solely their commercial baking place. Would haven been nice if they offered something onsite.
Within walking distance to/from Charlotte Rhodes Butterfly Gardens or the Wendell Gilley Museum.
You can purchase live, ultra-fresh lobsters directly from the marina staff to steam yourself using the on-site picnic areas and barbecue grills.
