Docked: Homer Smith Docks and Marina (Beaufort, NC) Slip C17 7AM
Special Comments:
- GOSH, leaving the docks we were greeted by dolphins. Such a treat!
- Lots of early morning marine traffic upon our departure.
- Port pass from M/C Al Teire. Surprisingly that power cat can throw some wake.
- Jacques had the pleasure of chatting with M/V Bobcat as he passed us on port. Our wakes may cross again southbound.
- Missed the 12PM Onslow Beach Bridge (Camp Lejeune, NC) opening, so we’re crawling at for the 12:30PM opening.
- Passed commercial shrimp trawler fishing vessel, M/V Claire Skye before the Surf City Bridge (Surf City, NC). Sadly, officially classified as an Abandoned and Derelict Vessel (ADV). North Carolina Coastal Federation has slated the vessel for removal using environmental cleanup grant funds.
- WOW, shortly after seeing the beached commercial shrimp trawler fishing vessel, M/V Claire Skye we saw something ahead off the bow. We both thought it was dolphins. NOPE, a deer! That’s a first.
