During one of Jacques’ routine engine room checks, he detected a tiny, pinhole oil leak. On a hourly monitor duty, by early morning, the leak had slightly increased. Headsets (aka: Marriage Savers) on, Jacques was determined to hunt the source down. Meanwhile, up in the pilothouse, I stood ready at the helm, hanging on his every command: auto pilot off, neutral, forward, and resume auto pilot. The choreography worked. He found the culprit, the hose from the oil pump on the ZF transmission had sprung a leak. Calling the marina, Paula Davis, HarborMaster offered a name and number for a local guy, Wes Brown (757-678-3506), Certified Diesel Mechanic at BB Boatworks Inc (Cape Charles, VA). Speaking with him while underway he was down in our engine room within an hour of lines tied tight.
