Departure: Mackerel Cove Anchorage, (N44°10.215′ W68°25.557′) (Swan’s Island, ME) 12PM

Special Comments:

• Gorgeous sunrise. Taking photos and videos, gosh were the birds loud chirping away. This has been one of my favorite spots.
• I could stay here at Mackerel Cove Anchorage. It’s just so peaceful and scenic. Really dread lifting the anchor.
• Just as we were lifting anchor a beautiful Marlow, M/V All Talk II was pulling in. At first, I thought it may have been the other Fleming that we’ve been jumping and skipping along with.
• Not just because of the view but given our short commute again, Jacques throttled back because it’s just that beautiful, sightings that we wish to savor as we slowly make our way southbound.
• Under we saw several small pods of dolphins, no jumpers.
• Yikes, tons of Lion’s Mane Jellyfish sightings of all sizes. Definitely don’t want to swim or be man-over-board in these waters.
• Local family enjoying the beach. BURR, stepping into the water.
• Four vessels anchoring overnight.
• Beautiful sunset.

Anchored: Little Hen Island – Seal Bay (Vinalhaven, ME) (N44°05.536′ W68°48.038′)

Special Comments:

• We slept like babies. Barely moved and absolutely peaceful.
• Missing our muffin delivery while moored, I prepped blueberry muffin batter last evening and the first person upstairs was to bake two. Jacques won. Upstairs smelled yummy! Trick worked.
• This morning four of the anchored sailboats left.
• Jacques dropped the tender after breakfast and went for a solo exploration stroll. Forgetting his hat, he didn’t last too long with the beating sun on his scalp.
• Assisting upon his return, guess who pulled in, the Marlow that pulled in as we were departing from Swan’s Island, ME anchorage, M/V All Talk II. Interesting how the boating community seems to shrink the world. We actually had the pleasure of meeting them along with their friends cruising with them during our evening tender stroll, later enjoyed Happy Hour onboard upon their invitation.
• We went for a tender stroll and happened to stroll upon another Nordhavn, M/V Wanderer (N4305). Nice conversation with Jeff.

Anchored: Little Hen Island – Seal Bay (Vinalhaven, ME) (N44°05.536′ W68°48.038′)

Special Comments:

• Got to wave farewell to M/V All Talk II and M/V Wanderer (N4305). Even snapping some photos and videos of them underway. Even our sailboat neighbors departed.
• Well, it’s not looking favorable for stopping at Rockland this weekend due to a combination of local community events: Food + Pollinator Garden Tour, Rockland Makers Market at the Harbor, and RYC Scholarship Race, combined with spiked seasonal tourism. While we had visited the quaint town by car, it was optimal for necessary Amazon & Walmart deliveries. WONK, WONK! Tender exploration delayed as we scramble for our next home.
• Thought we were gonna get lucky and have the entire anchorage spot to ourselves tonight but, one by one sailboats are moving in.
• Tender down, we noticed a green mustache growing on hulls water marking, so Jacques is out mowing the grass (LOL).
• While Jacques lifted the tender, I began doing some research and it’s only 80 days until November 1st, which means we’ll need to pick up pace and do as many overnights as possible to position ourselves for weather that starts next month and shorter daylight hours around the corner. YIKES!

• Departure Day!
• Such a scenic cruise!
• Guess, whom we crossed wakes with on approach M/V All Talk II.
• Had the pleasure of meeting the marina owner, Paul. Turns out he used to own a Nordhavn 46′ (M/V Havn). Friendly guy! Also met his wife, Katy.
