Departure: Falmouth Town Marina (Falmouth, MA) 9:30AM
Special Comments:
- Drizzly and fogging morning.
- One of the upgrades we did early last year was replace our fog horn that alarms in dense fog. Love it! We did encounter dense fog during our repositioning (2023) and Mystic, CT cruise (2025). Visibility roughly 1/8 mile.
- Due to the Cape Cod Canal and volume of traps, Jacques had to manually drive. Which combined with fog required a high level of attention and focus. I on the other hand had my eyes feasting on the shorelines and sporadic islands.
- No imitation as you navigate the narrow, twisty, and windy channel passing by Brown’s Bank (Plymouth, MA) with a TowBoatUS sitting idled just waiting.
- No sooner did we get our boat chores done, there was a knock on the hull. I was in the shower and Jacques was partially naked (in his underway) awaiting. It was a dock hand (lets call him B) asking to move the boat, because the sailboat behind us insisted they wouldn’t be able to get out at 7AM. Jacques declined in the moment, because we’re naked and in the process of showering. An that we would deal with it after we ate. No sooner did we exit the vessel that the sailboat couple came charging up on us on the dock from behind yelling. Now, where I’m from you don’t do that, E-V-E-R unless maybe you want a ass kicked or worse. Minding my biz continuing to walk away, I did turn around as three voices, including Jacques was getting loud. Little short man (4′) charging up on Jacques (6.2″), seriously! Shouting, “I hope you get everything you deserve“, seriously. When I sternly asked them to return back to their vessel and to leave us alone, they proceeded to follow us the dock. Yelling and screaming. Sternly I say, this is getting too escalated, “return to you vessel, leave us alone, and we’re walking away“. I proceeded to grab Jacques hand and walk away. The dock hand (A) met up with us by the gate. Friendly conversation had. He ran ahead to advise the sailboat couple to which I sternly respond, do advise them not to speak to us and they will not get a second chance to run up on us again. The two dock hands (A & B) moved us forward (10′). NOW, the irony in all of this is when we were docking, I said, to my Captain this is good, stop. So, we did. Providing more than enough room for the sailboat to move behind us. HOWEVER, the dockhand (A) thereafter insisted that we move back 10′, presumably to squeeze in another vessel. Well, whenever the sailboaters returned from whatever they were doin’, they weren’t happy about how close we were. Charging up and yelling at us as though it was our doing. WTF, why do most sailboaters have a sense of entitlement?!?
- We enjoyed a quiet dinner at Seaside Smokehouse (Plymouth, MA) where two college students struck up a conversation with us and most curious about our lifestyle and giving us some tips on things to do. Both sets of parents should be proud for the young men they’ve raised.
- The sunset, well my phone camera just doesn’t do it justice. A vibrant orange and hot pink. Absolutely beautiful!

Docked: Safe Harbor Plymouth (Plymouth, MA)
Special Comments:
- The sailboats 7AM departure was really 7:30AM. Observing their departure showed some light with their projected attitude as they appeared to be struggling to depart. Three people tripping over on another and achieving very little.
- Jacques came upstairs with some excitement in his voice to tell me we may see some whales as we transit to Boston, MA. Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary, a wild ocean place near an urban world, sits east of Boston, MA between Cape Ann and Cape Cod. Fingers crossed!
- Unbelievable that all the marinas/shipyards that we emailed, spoken to, and left voicemail messages have not responded concerning the washer/dryer install. Spending our morning researching options C. UGH, I absolutely loathe dealing with marine vendors.
- Absolute charming walkable town, roughly 1 mile walk from the marina along the waterfront path to the other side. Offers plenty of benches along the way and shops to pop in/out.
- Geeze, it’s been so cool lately, that 80F feels hot and sweaty. Jacques enjoyed a coffee
